Catch up with Teach Portsmouth presents early years education

We would like to thank everyone who shared the news about Teach Portsmouth presents early years education. We had over 25 people register to attend the webinar - which is a fantastic result!

If you were unable to attend the webinar, a recording is now available on the Teach Portsmouth website. We would encourage early years settings to share this resource with parents/carers as well as people who might be interested in becoming a practitioner or wanting to progress in the sector.

During the webinar, a nursery practitioner and nursery manager joined Mindy to talk about their experiences, discussing the rewards and challenges of working in the profession.

Why did the webinar take place?

We are aware of the need to recruit the right practitioners for nurseries in the city. The webinar is designed to capture those at the very start of their careers by communicating the rewards and challenges of becoming a qualified practitioner. It also inspires those already in the profession to consider moving into a more senior role too.

The webinar was part of Portsmouth Aspirations Week, a weeklong initiative to encourage children, young people and adults to learn new skills, gain qualifications and progress in their career.

How do you promote the recording?

Teach Portsmouth and the Early Years and Childcare team would value your help in promoting the webinar recording. Please visit the webpage (link below) and share the video on social media or on your website.

You can also include a link on your social media page encouraging other people to interact with it. Use the URL: www.teachportsmouth.co.uk/webinar where possible.

Free training for EY SENCos

Solent NHS Trust and Portsmouth Local Authority are working together with Portsmouth Parent Voice to produce a new assessment profile. It is designed for the universal workforce, in partnership with parents, in order to confidently describe the presentation and needs of children and young people with neurodevelopmental differences. It focuses on needs and support strategies. It is a way of profiling needs that does not rely on diagnosis alone; it is something which everyone understands and to which everyone can contribute.

You are invited to join multi-agency training to learn about the new profiling tool so that you can complete this profile with parents.

Further information, dates and the booking form can be found here. For further details, please email Victoria.Parker@portsmouthcc.gov.uk or Zach.Dunn@solent.nhs.uk
