SRS Bytesize sessions
From June onwards, we will be running regular short virtual drop-in sessions covering a topic related to our data services. During the Microsoft Teams calls, experts from our teams, and colleagues from data teams in ONS, will provide a quick introduction to the topic, any updates and give attendees the chance to ask questions.
Upcoming sessions we are proposing to cover include:
- What secure data are available from the ONS
- SRS Assured Organisational Connectivity (AOC)
- Tips for getting your outputs cleared
- Becoming an Accredited Researcher
If you have ideas for further topics, please contact us.
National Core Studies in the SRS
ONS is supporting the Health Data Research UK National Core Studies (NCS) programme to enable the UK to use health data and research to inform both the near and long-term responses to COVID-19, as well as accelerating progress to establish a world-leading health data and research infrastructure for the future.
The programme comprises of six studies covering: Epidemiology and Surveillance, Clinical Trials and Infrastructure, Transmission and Environment, Immunity, Data and Connectivity and Longitudinal Health and Wellbeing. The first of the NCS projects have commenced their analysis in the SRS.
New dataset in the SRS
You can now find ‘Covid-19 Infection Survey linked with VOA and EPC data – England and Wales’ in the SRS.
Data from EPC’s are collected under the Energy Performance of Buildings Regulations (England and Wales) 2012 and subsequent amendments.
The Valuation Office Agency (VOA) values properties for the purpose of Council Tax and for non-domestic rates in England and Wales.
Case Study of the Month
Invasive breast cancer and breast cancer mortality after Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS) in women attending for breast screening in England
This research provides new insight on long-term outcomes following screen-detected DCIS. The findings are expected to have important implications on surveillance policy and national guidelines regarding the frequency and duration of post-diagnosis screening mammography for women with DCIS.
The research was the winner of the ONS Research Excellence Project Award 2020.
