December 2023
The team would like to take the opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We hope you find some time to relax and spend time with family and friends.
This year has been another busy year with plenty of on-going challenges for us all. There has, however, been much to celebrate including your contribution towards the Early Years Foundation Stage results which were above the national average, the School Readiness event that supported children and families with transition to school, an increasing number of children with quality transition summaries in place and for those that required additional support Education Health and Care Plans and lastly the NSPCC e-safety safeguarding session which was a pilot for North Lincolnshire and will be rolled out to other areas.
Finally, thank you all for your commitment to your children and families. I hope you will take a moment to reflect and celebrate your successes as a team throughout the year.
From 2nd January 2024, eligible working parents can apply for 15 hours childcare for their two-year-old. Parents have until 31st March to apply for a code, with the best timing being mid-January to the end of February in case they need to provide further information to support their application.
To apply for a childcare code each parent needs to be working and earning the equivalent of 16 hours a week at national minimum/living wage and under £100,000 adjusted net income per year. This means that each parent needs to earn from just over £8,600 per year to be eligible for 15 hours a week of childcare during term time.
There is more information on the childcare support available to parents on the Childcare Choices website, where they can explore the early education entitlements and other government help with childcare costs.
This is for those parents eligible for the working parent entitlement. Parents of disadvantaged two year olds, still apply for their code through the council website.
This toolkit, written by the Nation Deaf Children's Society, builds understanding of the barriers that deaf children may experience in early years settings and provides information and activities to create positive mental health.
Deaf babies and children face a unique set of barriers to accessing communication and language, which can directly impact their relationship with others, their learning and their mental health and wellbeing. Providing tailored support to them, as well as their non-deaf peers, can build the foundations for good emotional health and mental health. Download and share the toolkit here
The Directory of training and CPD opportunities for the Spring Term 2024 has been sent out and we hope you have shared it with all your staff members.
