Age UK's Day Centres are looking for volunteers to assist  Support Workers, who provide Day Care for older ladies and gentlemen with Dementia.

Information and advice volunteers

Age UK are currently looking for volunteers to work within their Advice Team, helping older people to overcome a range of problems, particularly relating to welfare benefit entitlements.

Volunteer counsellors

Age UK's Counselling Service is looking for volunteer counsellors, either fully qualified or those currently training to be a counsellor.

Shop volunteers (no minimum commitment)

Age UK are looking for volunteers at their Manchester shops - if that's you and you have spare time, then apply to become a shop volunteer.

Translator Volunteers

Age UK is seeking volunteers to help older people at their Brunswick Day Centre with communicating with staff and their peers. Service users sometimes lose the capacity to speak English and revert to their native tongue, which creates a communication barrier. Volunteers help to break this barrier down. Age UK are particularly looking for speakers of Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and Patois. 

Ageing Well Volunteers

Age UK are looking for volunteers who want to help at Ageing Well groups to assist with running the group, preparing for activities, and being a friendly face. Groups range from craft groups to exercise groups to Men in Sheds. Please note that there is a minimum commitment of three months.

Volunteering is when someone spends time doing something to benefit others. It can include shopping for someone, being a mentor, assisting someone with a job search, giving reading lessons, helping at a food bank, befriending – and much more.  Anyone can volunteer; you can do as much or as little as you like, to fit around your life. It may be a regular activity, a one-off, or anything in between. Volunteering is for people of all ages, abilities, experiences and backgrounds. You don’t need any skills or qualifications to begin volunteering. Your past experiences may be extremely useful when volunteering.

MCRVIP
MCRVIP is a volunteering site managed by Manchester City Council. This is where you can find opportunities to volunteer with Council teams such as Libraries, MCRactive and Manchester Art Galleries.

Prison Link Worker

The Big Life Group are looking for a Prison Link Worker to support the transition of people being released from prison on licence, identifying and
supporting the needs of People on Probation across Greater Manchester. This role requires facilitating the gate pick-ups for People on Probation on release day, liaising with prisons and pre-release teams to ensure that things run smoothly in line with release times and transportation. Other requirements will be accompanying them
to agreed destinations, including probation offices, agreed accommodations, women’s centres and wellbeing hubs. Where appropriate, you will also meet people in prison who have been referred to the Wellbeing Service as part of a pre-release
plan, providing consistent support in the lead-up to their release. This may involve multiple visits to help address the reasons for referral and accompanying them to a wellbeing hub in their locality to support progress around rehabilitation.

Salary: £31,022
Hours: 35 hours per week 
Contract: (Fixed term until 30 September 2027)

Operations and Project Worker

Manchester Central Foodbank are looking for an Operations and Projects Worker this is a hands on position responsible for supporting the day to day running of foodbank services, including leading sessions, supervising and developing volunteers, managing stock and logistics, and engaging directly with clients. The role involves ensuring safe, welcoming and efficient service delivery, handling enquiries and administration, coordinating deliveries and food distribution, and contributing to projects that sustain and grow the charity’s impact. Workers operate across multiple sites, sometimes leading sessions with responsibility for health and safety, reporting and partner liaison, while also supporting wider operations such as volunteer coordination, fundraising initiatives, and community partnerships. The position requires strong organisational, communication and decision making skills, the ability to work flexibly in a busy environment, and a commitment to social justice and tackling food poverty.

Salary: £24,796 pro–rata (approx. £13.20 per hour)

Kitchen Assistant

Chorlton Park Primary are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to Assist with the preparation, of meals in line with safe working practices and food hygiene regulations. Using a range of techniques for infection prevention and control including waste management, hand washing and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Ceracare 

Care Assistant

Ceracare are looking for a Care Assistant to look after people with a wide range of needs, including the elderly, dementia patients, or adults and children with complex or additional needs. As part of this role you may be expected to do some personal care, meal preparation, housework and most importantly, provide a listening ear when needed. You will need to be warm, friendly and patient within this role because you are working with service users. As a Complex Care worker you will also support individuals with clinical needs such as medication administration, ventilation, PEG feeding or seizure management the Ceracare team of nurses provide additional training and support for their carers that work within this field.
