Drive Ready Workshop - NEW!
There’s an exciting opportunity for young people with SEND (aged between 15 years 9 months up to 25 years old) to get drive ready! It's a chance to get prepared for the road, including provisional licences, theory and basic car maintenance. Get Gardening - NEW!
There’s a free SEND gardening session at Longford Park Community Garden on Wednesday 31st May, 12 noon, for families living in the Manchester City Council area. Learn about growing plants and vegetables with the lovely Community Garden volunteers. The garden is next to pets corner, facing the café. Carpark 2 is the closest and more suitable for those with accessibility/mobility needs. Otherwise, there is the big car park near the athletics track. The gardens are accessed by a big metal gate but someone will be there to keep an eye out. Booking essential – text the code ‘GARDEN’ to 07423 264769, saying how many places you would like.
Family Fun & Floats - NEW!
Come and join Manchester Parent Champions for some water fun on Sunday 4th June, 3-5pm at North City Family and Fitness Centre, Harpurhey! Drinks, snacks and chat afterwards. Family Forest School - NEW!
SEND Family Forest School returns to Platt Fields Market Garden (off Mabfield Road, Fallowfield, M16 6LT) on Wednesday 31st May, Thursday 1st June and Friday 2nd June 2023,10am-3pm, drop in anytime (but please book), lunch around 12pm. This free stay-and-play style activity for SEND families living in the Manchester City Council area offers a warm welcome for all ages, including sensory play in the mud kitchen and sand pit, den building and seasonal nature crafts. Family Cinema
Manchester Parent Carer Forum (MPCF) has planned an exciting series of free relaxed cinema screenings over the summer months. It's for SEND families living in the Manchester City Council area, with showings at GRUB / CULTPLEX, a street food and independent cinema venue in the Red Bank area of Manchester city centre. The first showing is on Saturday 10th June, 10am to 12 noon - and you have voted for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse!

Sensory Rooms
Spend time in the Sensory Rooms at Redbank House in Cheetham Hill over the half term. Free slots are available at various times between 9am-4pm (on the hour for 50 minutes) during weekdays from Tuesday 30th May to Friday 2nd June. Families have free use of the Sensory Room at Benchill Community Centre in Wythenshawe over the Whitsun holiday. Each slot is for 45 minutes and on the hour. It's Tuesday 30th May to Friday 2nd June. REGULAR ACTIVITY
Cycling Opportunity for 11-16s
MANCCYCLES and GMYN offer an exciting opportunity for young people aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs living in the Manchester City Council area. Riding sessions are every Saturday 11am-3pm, meeting at the Procter Learning Centre, Hulme Street, Off Jackson Crescent M15 5EF. Bikes, helmets and other safety equipment are provided for cycle routes across Greater Manchester, along with regular bike maintenance sessions. All young people take part in a pre-ride induction before attending Saturday rides but need to be competent riders. Family Swims
The SEND-family swims at Moss Side Leisure Centre are now free as part of the SEND Community Offer! Sessions are every Sunday 9-11.30am and are for families living in the Manchester City Council area. The swim provides a calm environment and a clear process from entry to the pools. Families can access the small pool and floats for family fun or use the main pool for lane swimming when available. Please note: children need to be accompanied in the water by parents/carers and not left unsupervised. For now, there’s no need to book – just turn up at the leisure centre. The picture shows Rasema, Manchester Parent Champion, who swims most Sundays and can help you get settled.
Manchester residents aged 16 and under can swim for free during any ‘Swim for All’ session during school holidays and at selected times during term-time weekends. Find out more on the Better website.
FLIP At Projeckts
FLIP are free weekly sessions at Projekts skatepark near Piccadilly Station, running until 18th July 2023. It’s now every Wednesday (instead of Tuesday) in term-time 4.30-6.30pm. It's a chance for young people with SEND aged 8-25 in the Manchester City Council area to enjoy an hour of skateboard coaching, followed by an hour of music-making with Billy and Andy who offer accessible music workshops. Siblings can join in too. Families are welcome to hang out in the cafe during the sessions or watch the skateboarders from the viewing balcony.
