Preparing for winter: order your winter health posters
Thinking ahead and preparing for what the weather may bring can make a real difference. There are simple steps you can take to stay safe and healthy. Richmond Council's Public Health department are asking for your help to cascade these messages to the service users you support.
We are pleased to offer printed posters designed to support service users during the winter. The posters available are listed below:

Cold weather preparedness - sign up for cold weather alerts
More people die in winter than in other seasons, although the number of additional deaths vary each year. This period also sees a substantial increase in respiratory illnesses and other conditions which are worsened by exposure to cold. Some people are at higher risk of becoming seriously unwell because of exposure to cold. It is important to note that negative health effects start at relatively moderate outdoor mean temperatures of 4°C to 8°C.
Thinking ahead and preparing for what the weather may bring can make a real difference. There are some simple actions that can help people to stay safe and healthy at this time of year, such as helping them to prepare their homes or businesses and encouraging them to take care of their families and friends.
Please follow the links for the government's Adverse Weather Plan and the Keep Warm Keep Well poster.

Help protect residents from winter illnesses by promoting the flu and COVID-19 booster vaccines
Flu and COVID-19 can be serious and life-threatening illnesses. Each year, the NHS offers the flu and COVID-19 vaccines for free to protect those at greatest risk. For more information about the vaccines, including who should have them and where to get them, visit the NHS website.
Help communicate the importance of vaccination this winter by sharing information about the vaccines with eligible service users. There are a variety of resources available on the campaign resource centre including posters, leaflets and social media assets. You can also access online vaccine conversation training.
If you are having any events this winter attended by a reasonable number of residents eligible for winter vaccines, the NHS may be able to attend to offer vaccination. Please contact healthprotection@richmondandwandsworth.gov.uk for more information.
