Access to COVID-19 vaccine for adults who are shielding and their main carers

NHS records indicate that due to your health condition, you have been advised to shield at home to keep yourself safe.  As such you have been prioritised for vaccination.

We are able to offer access to vaccination to you and your main (adult) unpaid carers (if applicable).  By ‘unpaid carer’ we mean family members and friends who regularly support you due to your disability, where you need this support and would struggle without them.  Please share this email with your unpaid carers.

Our GP practices are contacting people aged 70 and over to attend for their vaccination.  We are inviting people who are shielding and their carers aged between 16 and 69 years of age.  If you have already been contacted by your GP, please attend the appointment with them.

You can get an appointment at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary (Acre Mill site) or Calderdale Royal Hospital Learning Centre. You MUST pre-book an appointment using the following link.

Items to bring to your appointment

The booking link above is shared with you in accordance with the principles on the information sheet attached and MUST NOT be forwarded on to anyone else.  Please read all the attached information. When you attend your appointment please remember to take with you;

  1. Your NHS Number
  2. Photographic ID (For those people who are registered as sight impaired and do not have photo ID, they can present their registration certificate or other relevant documentation)
  3. A copy of this email as evidence that you have been contacted as you are shielding. (Where applicable your carer can also use this same email as evidence when they attend).

The online booking system will show availability for the next three days, including the day you are booking on.

We would ask you book into available slots as soon as possible, and take the first available appointment.  If no suitable appointments are showing as available we would ask that you revisit the booking site at a later time as additional dates are released onto the system as vaccine supply is confirmed.

More information

Further information is included in the link below, but please note that vaccinations are taking place in premises which are away from the main hospital sites, so that people can be re-assured about their safety when attending.

If you attend without an appointment you will not be able to access the vaccination service.
