Hounslow Council is a finalist in the Children's Food Awards 2025 in the category Best Local Healthy Advertising Policy. Winners for all awards will be announced on Tuesday, 25 February.
In November 2024, Hounslow became the first Council in west London to restrict advertising of unhealthy foods for all ages and the first Council in the UK to restrict the promotion of unhealthy commercial baby foods. The policy restricts advertising of foods and drinks high in fat, salt and sugar, aiming to reduce residents’ exposure to adverts for these unhealthy products, especially for children and young adults.
If your child currently receives School Travel Assistance and is aged 13 and above, the Council needs your help to co-produce the future of this vital service.
Share your thoughts on the changing post 16 travel policy. Your feedback will help shape this essential service.

On Friday, 31 January Great Mental Health Day will take place across London. This is a London-wide initiative to get people talking about their mental health and wellbeing and to raise awareness of the local support available to Londoners all year round.
Great Mental Health Day serves as a vital reminder to pause, reflect, and acknowledge that when times are tough, it’s important to look after your and others' wellbeing. This interactive map highlights support services and events taking place on the day.
To mark the day, the Council is encouraging residents to sign up and volunteer for BEfriend's Linked Minds project and support people in Hounslow who are experiencing loneliness due to a diagnosed mental health problem. Watch this video to learn more about Linked Minds and hear Roger and Shivam’s inspiring story with the service.
