The Domestic and Sexual Abuse Team are excited to introduce the new Pre- School Parent and Child Domestic Abuse Worker (PCDAW).

Calie, the Parent and Child Domestic Abuse Worker can provide direct support to adult victims of domestic abuse who have a child aged between 0-4 years. She can also offer case advice to any childcare provider, navigate support required for a child, baby massage session by invite only and domestic abuse training for staff.

Calie can visit your setting and meet with staff to explain the domestic abuse services, provide free domestic abuse awareness training and respond to any questions.

A FREE, weekly drop-in service for anyone experiencing domestic abuse, sexual abuse and other forms of gender-based violence.

Representatives from Domestic and Sexual Abuse Team and other gender-based violence services are available to assist those experiencing:

Domestic abuse, sexual abuse, forced marriage, honour-based abuse, female genital mutilation, prostitution, human trafficking for sexual exploitation, stalking, modern day slavery

Trained staff are also available from other partners such as: Family law and immigration solicitors, benefits agency, children's support workers and Asian women's resource centre.

Childcare is changing. Local authorities and childcare providers have the unique opportunity to embrace a huge expansion in childcare provision. To support this, Childcare Works will listen to what local authorities and providers need and create expert resources, tools and guidance in response. Completed resources will be hosted in the HUB: a one-stop shop for all roll-out resources.

The HUB is a bank of resources available to Local Authorities and childcare providers implementing the childcare expansion programme. Here you will find a comprehensive library of the resources developed to support the roll-out of the early years and wraparound childcare expansion project.

We are sure you will have been following the post-election news closely over the past few days. It was confirmed on Friday, 5 July that Bridget Phillipson has been appointed as Secretary of State for Education.

Yesterday she wrote to all those working in early years, children’s services, schools, further and higher education. If this letter has not yet reached you via your DCS, you can read it in full here. You are also invited to join the live event taking place on Tuesday, 16 July at 4pm with the new Secretary of State where she will share her vision for education, children's services and skills, and through a live chat function you will be able to share your views too.

The Food Standards have recently updated their guidance on use of raw flour, ensuring that children don’t play with or eat raw dough, including dough for crafts, unless it has been heat-treated beforehand.
