A new DfE project will be rolled out across England starting from September 2022, with the aim of aiding the education recovery of children in the Early Years in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Early Years Experts and Mentors programme is intended to support early years practitioners, leaders and whole-settings and will be delivered both in the setting face to face and virtually.
Settings can self-refer to request the support of an expert or mentor. Applications from settings to receive support in the Autumn term 2022, must be submitted by Friday 24 June 2022.

Infant Mental Health week is an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of parent-infant relationships and babies’ social and emotional development. The DfE has announced the launch of the National Professional Qualification for Early Years Leadership (NPQEYL) which will be available from Autumn 2022.
This professional development offer will support early years leaders to develop expertise in leading high-quality education and care, effective staff and organisational management, working with their colleagues so that every child gets the best start in life.
The DfE has updated the non-statutory guidance 'Emergency planning and response for education, childcare, and children’s social care settings' in June 2022. It provides guidance to help all education and childcare settings respond to emergencies, including significant public health incidents and severe weather.
Every emergency is different but, in all cases, educational and wellbeing impacts should be considered when taking any emergency and risk management actions. This guidance will support you with creating your own emergency plan, also referred to as contingency planning.
