Feltham improvement works updates

Permananent closure of the Level Crossing on Bedfont Lane

From 9pm on Saturday 16 March, the level crossing on Bedfont Lane will close permanently, and vehicle diversion routes will be adapted.

Pedestrian access over the railway

There will be no pedestrian access across the level crossing. To cross the railway, pedestrians will able to use the existing pedestrian bridge to The Centre or the temporary stepped footbridge. For those requiring step-free access, this will be available through the station via a bridge pass system and the lifts will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until the new permanent cycle footbridge is installed. We advise that only those who require step-free access use this route. Please speak to a member of staff at Feltham Station for more.

The temporary footbridge and the step free access through the station will remain in place until the new shared pedestrian and cycle bridge is constructed, in Spring 2020.

Weekend of 16/17 March

No trains will travel through Feltham over the weekend of 16/17 March (further information can be found at southwesternrailway.com) and Bedfont Lane will be closed at its junction with New Road using temporary traffic lights. Vehicle diversion routes will be adapted. During this time Network Rail will construct the temporary pedestrian bridge across the railway line.

Pedestrian access over the railway will be via the pedestrian bridge into The Centre, but please follow the signed diversion routes.

Next stages

In mid March, the current traffic management at the Longford Bridge will be changed to allow for widening work to start on the McDonald’s side of the road. The junction will still be controlled by temporary traffic lights, and vehicles and pedestrians will use the new widened side of the bridge.

In April, Network Rail are planning to remove the shopping centre bridge, so they can progress the construction of the new shared pedestrian and cycle bridge over the railway.
