Bolton Hospice have a number of training courses coming up in the next few months, suitable for any health and social care frontline staff or volunteer working with individuals who may benefit from the opportunity to plan their future care.
These courses are currently being held remotely, but they hope to resume face-to-face courses from September onwards. The courses scheduled are as follows:

Advanced Care Planning and Communication Skills - 8th July, 1-4pm

Opening the Spiritual Gate - 2nd September, 9.30am-4pm

Supporting Families & Children through Loss, Grief and Bereavement - 8th September, 6-8pm

An Introduction to Symptom Control in End of Life Care - 29th September, 1-4pm

Enhanced Communication Skills - 6th October, 9.30am-4pm

Complementary Therapy in Palliative and End of Life Care - 7th October, 1-4pm

Syringe Driver Training - 13th October, 1-4pm

Palliative Care Emergencies - 5th November, 10am-2pm

During the past three years the End of Life Partnership (EOLP) has collaborated with four Cheshire Hospices to develop and deliver a unique award winning Hospice Leadership and Management Development Programme, for both clinical and non-clinical staff.
After successfully completing four cohorts they are running a fifth, starting in September 2021. In addition an adapted programme for developing leaders from across different health care settings with a focus on Palliative & End of Life Care is also starting in January 2022.
The programmes offers:
- Tools and frameworks to refine personal leadership purpose, in alignment with the purpose of your organisation.
- Skills to face workplace challenges, such as having difficult conversations, leading teams, and dealing with complexity.
- Leadership strategies for driving organisational change and preparing for the future, while maintaining team performance.
- Capability to maintain resilient teams within a resilient organisation.
Each programme will cover the following four modules;
Delivered as live, interactive, facilitated online programmes, they will use Moodle as a platform and incorporate live modules, videos, group Action Learning Sets and virtual 1:1’s.
The modules have been developed by Rachael Lewis, a Business and Coaching Psychologist, with over 25 year’s of experience developing bespoke management training, in collaboration with EOLP.
Programme 1 : Hospice Leadership and Development Programme : September – December 2021
For junior managers and future leaders working in a hospice environment.
Programme 2 : New “Aspiring Leaders in Palliative Care ” : January – May 2022
Focuses on developing leaders from across different health care settings with a focus on Palliative & End of Life Care.
