We recently shared a guide covering housing options and private rented sector move-on support available to Ukrainian guests when finding independent accommodation.
The following guidance has been updated with new information about financial help now available to access the private rented sector. Read about it in our updated housing options guidance 👇
This Saturday 26th November will commemorate Holodomor Memorial Day or Holodomor Remembrance Day. This is an annual commemoration of the victims of the Holodomor, the 1932–33 famine that killed millions in Ukraine, falling on the fourth Saturday of November.
In order to remember those in Ukraine who suffered during this time, we wanted to recognise this day for our Ukrainian guests, and help you find ways to honour it's remembrance.
Commemorations include a national minute of silence at 16:00, followed by the lighting of the candle. Participants set candles at memorials or place them in their window at home. We hope that you and your guests are able to commemorate this important day for Ukrainians.

A new course is available from the Open University to provide people with an introduction to Ukrainian Languages and Culture.
This free online course is for everybody who is interested in finding out about Ukraine and its people and want to get a first insight into its rich cultural heritage. It is also for learners who interact directly with Ukrainian refugees, for example by hosting refugees in their homes, and who want to bring what they have found out – their knowledge and experience – to a space where they can engage with like-minded others and can find and provide mutual support and advice.

Please remember that we ask all hosts to update our online form twice only.
First - When you give us details of everyone aged 16 or over in your household so we can carry out safety checks
Second - please use the form to tell us when your guests arrive. This will help us speed up payments and services that are due.
You only need to do each of these steps once. If you've already updated the form, you do not need to do it again - thank you.
This newsletter is sent to every host (sponsor) in East Sussex who is part of Homes for Ukraine to keep you updated. You can unsubscribe at any time.
We expect to send you a further update next week. Until then, we'd like to wish you all an enjoyable weekend.
