A few weeks ago, we sent a special edition newsletter to all Ukrainian guests in East Sussex. This newsletter included important updates on the following:
- Support into Work - a new project now available to assist Ukrainian guests into employment
- Move On - new information and guidance on what housing options and support are available to hosts and guests
- Helpful tips and advice around job hunting, CV writing and where and how guests can find employment opportunities.
This information is subject to being updated as further support becomes available.

A wide range of free activities for eligible children and young people will be taking place across the county over the upcoming Christmas holidays. These activities are funded by the Department for Education through the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme.
More than 50 providers are running activities across more than 80 sites over the school holidays, with something for all interests and ages. All activities also include the provision of a healthy meal. A full of list all activities is available online here.
We know that some families found it hard to book places for the summer, with different HAF activities being added to our online booking site gradually it was not always clear what provision was going to be available locally.
In response to this feedback all the bookings for our winter programme will go live on the same date.
This means that eligible families will be able to see all the activities that will be on offer in one go and book a place for their child on the activities most appropriate for them.

The Department for Education (DFE), who provide the HAF funding, require us to prioritise places at HAF-funded activities for young people in receipt of benefits-related free school meals (FSM) which includes Ukrainian children who are eligible for free school meals.
|
|
However, they also allow a small proportion of the HAF-funded places to be made available to young people in other eligible groups.
This includes Ukrainian guests who will be able to book places, alongside these other eligible groups, from Wednesday 9th November.

Prior to bookings opening, families can register their interest with HAF providers directly through their individual listings on our booking website (here). Families who have registered interest will be notified by email as soon as the bookings open.
Please contact the HAF Team if you have any questions (HAF@eastsussex.gov.uk).
There is help available for parents of children 0 to 16 depending on your circumstances.
All families in England with 3 and 4-year-old children can claim 15 hours of funded childcare a week. But you may be able to claim more funded childcare hours, child tax credits, and other forms of financial support.

Second - please use the form to tell us when your guests arrive. This will help us speed up payments and services that are due.
You only need to do each of these steps once. If you've already updated the form, you do not need to do it again - thank you.
This newsletter is sent to every host (sponsor) in East Sussex who is part of Homes for Ukraine to keep you updated. You can unsubscribe at any time.
We expect to send you a further update next week. Until then, we'd like to wish you all an enjoyable weekend.
