Early Years Conference 2026
An inspiring, practical, and fun day for ALL early years professionals.
Join us for a hands-on, workshop-led conference designed to support you in delivering the Best Start in Life for every child. This is not a sit-and-listen event — it’s a practical, engaging, and collaborative experience grounded in current research and real-world practice.
Learning will be framed within the context of national and local strategic priorities for The Best Start in Life - helping all of our East Riding children build the strong foundations they need for future learning.
Dates: Friday 25th September 2026 or Saturday 26th September 2026
Time: Registration from 8.30 am for a 9.15am start. The event will finish at 3.45pm
Venue: Tickton Grange Hotel, Main St, Tickton, Beverley HU17 9SH
During the day you will have the opportunity to attend all 4 of the workshops.
Interactive Storytelling with Puppets (Carol Burton @ Puppets, Plays and Story Days)
This practical, hands-on workshop explores how puppets can be used to make storytelling more interactive and engaging for children. Participants will look at ways to use puppets to support participation, encourage confidence, and help stories feel more alive.
Through shared activities and examples, the session focuses on what works in real settings, with approaches that can be adapted for classrooms and early years environments. Delegates will leave with practical ideas they can use straight away to enrich their storytelling.
Lau Lau Songdrawing Method (Stephanie Warrender @ Lau Lau Learning)
Laulau® Songdrawing Method is a multi-sensory and inclusive activity, in which music and art mixes with movement and playful interaction to support a child’s learning. Drawings are created and supported by singing.

Purposeful Provision (James Tunnell @ Nursery Nook)
Through a hands-on active session James will explore key components that go into creating open-ended and rich continuous provision and enhanced provision that aligns to your learners. Delegates will leave empowered to make subtle changes to their provision immediately that will have impact.
