Lockdown impact six years on
The COVID-19 pandemic presented a global challenge at a scale never before experienced by our generation. Lockdowns, isolation, and social distancing affected everyone, and while for the most part we have celebrated a return to pre-pandemic living, the impact is still significant for emotional wellbeing, particularly for our young people. For young people, social isolation, disruption to learning and critically, major changes in important, guiding relationships, came at a time where the foundations of their emotional wellbeing were still being shaped. School-aged children and teenagers are shaped by their relationships with their understanding of themselves literally wired into their brain during this period. The impact was significant and still relevant to understanding their mental health and behaviour today. To learn more about the impact, visit https://www.eastriding.gov.uk/living/children-and-families/free-online-learning-for-parents-and-carers/ and enter the code PUFFIN to access.

Action for all settings: UKHSA and MHRA advice to stop using some non-sterile alcohol-free wipes
|
|
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) have advised the public not to use four non‑sterile, alcohol‑free wipes due to infection risk associated with their use. The affected products are:
- ValueAid Alcohol Free Cleansing Wipes
- Microsafe Moist Wipe Alcohol Free
- Steroplast Sterowipe Alcohol Free Cleansing Wipes
- Reliwipe Alcohol Free Cleansing Wipes
The wipes were found to be contaminated with Burkholderia species. Although the overall risk is low and the products have been withdrawn from sale, some may still be in use. These wipes, and any non‑sterile alcohol‑free wipes, should not be used on wounds, broken skin, or to clean intravenous lines. Anyone who has the affected products should stop using them immediately and dispose of them in household waste
