FISH Reminder

Funding codes need to be applied for and found eligible before the 31^st March 2025 in order to access the funding in the Summer term which commences 22^nd April 2025.

If the code start date is after the 31^st March 2025 funding can be accessed from the Autumn term.

As part of the statuatory guidance the Local Authority will perform elegbility checks on all working parent entitlement codes which have been submitted in a previous term. To review the updated information please refer to the childrens individual details on the summary page. This does not include new children whos details are not yet on the system.

Please note you are still required to check all codes using the eligibility checker before the start of the new term or accepting new children onto a funded place as normal.

2025 Provider Agreement

The new provider agreement was issued on Friday 21^st March if you have not already done so please read, sign and return to fish@eastriding.gov.uk at your eariest convenience. The agreement and supporting documentation can be found here.

Month of the Military Child Art Competition 2025

East Riding Council are running an art competition in partnership with the Army Welfare Service at the Defence School of Transport, Leconfield to recognise and celebrate April as the ‘Month of the Military Child’.

This competition is open to children from a Military family who have a parent/step parent or carer who are a regular, reserve or veteran of the armed forces.

Please could you email community.covenant@eastriding.gov.uk on or after the closing date of 25 April 2025 to let us know if there are any entries from your families.

We will arrange collection of any artwork in the week commencing 28 April.

Every child or young person who enters will receive a goodie bag. We will inform you of any prize winners in May.

DfE's apprenticeship announcement

As part of National Apprenticeships Week, this week the government announced changes to apprenticeship requirements that will grow the skills we need in high demand sectors like early years. This includes introducing greater flexibility over when standalone English and maths qualifications are required for apprentices: from 11 February, apprentices aged 19 years or older are no longer required to hold level 2 English and maths qualifications in order to complete their apprenticeship. 

This will allow many thousands more apprentices to complete their apprenticeships and enter employment,  supporting vital sectors such as early years to meet skills and workforce demands. It will also open up opportunity for many, more potential apprentices currently excluded from apprenticeships due to not already holding English and maths qualifications.
