Steve Owen- SEND and Inclusion Development Lead

I am the new SEND and Inclusion Development Lead for The East Riding of Yorkshire.

In a nutshell, this means my main role will be to plan the development and improvement of the partnership approach to how we support children and young people with SEND and their parents carers in East Riding, in the short, medium and long term. This will involve reviewing the current governance arrangements, making plans for how they can be strengthened and making the plans a reality as well as ensuring that we have clear and frequent communications lines between the SEND Board and the community including our schools and settings. No small job, and one which will require assistance from as many children and young people, their families, and professionals as possible. I am excited to hear your thoughts about how things can develop and look forward to collaborating with you to make a transformative plan and strategy to improve the lives and outcomes of children and young people with SEND.

I am new to the East Riding area, having relocated last Summer, after following the rest of my wife’s family to this delightful part of the world. I have worked in schools, Local Authorities and Inspection for the best part of 30 years. I have two delightful girls who attend primary school in East Riding; an incredibly old Labrador and a wonderful wife who keeps me inline! I am fanatical about football (no teams to be mentioned) and love water sports, so I can often be found on, or in, water!

The ICB (Formerly CCG) have created a survey to help understand the public’s view on health and care in Bridlington. The more responses that come in the richer and understand and help shape health and care in Bridlington!

Bridlington residents are being encouraged to take part in a new survey launched on 8 July to share their views on improving local health and care services and the town's general wellbeing.

The survey will be open until 1 September 2024 and can be accessed via Bridlington Health and Wellbeing Strategy Survey (smartsurvey.co.uk)

HAF's Summer Programme  Please see below the link to the Summer Activity Programme  2024 HAF Summer Programme HAF Summer 2024 programme - New Activities added!   Welcome to Plinth - HAF's new centralised booking system Our brand new centralised booking system for HAF is now launched where you can view and book all the HAF activities that are on offer this summer.  As always there is plenty to choose from including Harry Potter dance workshops to multi-sports sessions, art and craft fun to animal experiences.  You can search using a list or map, and use the filter function if there is something in particular you are interested in.    The system undertakes an automatic eligibility check.  If your instant check isn't initially approved, don't worry, we will be doing some work behind the scenes to ensure all those children and young people who are eligible receive their entitlement.  Check back on the website in a few days time.  If you have access to the activities, it means your registration form has been approved.   For those who are not eligble, some HAF providers are offering free places (funding by another source) or payable options, and you'll have the opportunity to book these activities too.   This holiday, you can book up to 16 funded sessions on any activities subject to availability, with all programmes listed in one place. You may wish to book all your places with the same HAF provider (that's completely fine) or spread this among a range of organisations.  All we ask is that if you cannot attend (even if it's last minute), to visit Plinth and cancel your booking.   There will be more SEND specific sessions added to the booking site over the next ten days. FASP Applications remain open for 2024

Applications continue to come in and the team are working hard to process them within 10-15 working days. Feedback surveys will go out once applications close.

Applications remain open until Sunday 6th September 2024 and the FASP team are on-hand to support with any queries.
