Funded Early Education - for childcare settings and childminders

2 Year Funding

All parents wishing to claim the 2 year funding in the Summer term must now have applied, and been found eligible for this funding.

You will need to ensure you have obtained a copy of the funding confirmation which must be kept in the child’s records. confirmation can either be a screen shot of the summary page on the parent account or a copy of the funding letter sent by the relevant local authority.

Any funding confirmations with a start date after 31, March 2023 can be claimed from the 2023 Autumn term.

30 Hours Extended Entitlement

Please ensure that you are checking 30 hours codes before the 17, April 2023, only codes with a start date of 31, March 2023 or before are eligible for the summer term. Codes with a start date after 31, March 2023 can be claimed from 2023 Autumn term.

Please remember that any child wanting to begin their 30 hours Extended Entitlement from the 2023 Summer term must not be in their grace period. We advise that all codes are checked prior to the start of the term to ensure that all parents have reconfirmed their details before the code end date.

Additional Inclusion Support (AIS) Funding (PVI settings)

Applications for Additional Inclusion Support funding are considered on a termly basis with funding to commence at the beginning of the following term. Requests are considered initially by the Area SENCo team prior to seeking approval from the Early Years Support Team. To ensure that the process to runs efficiently, requests must be received by the dates published below.

Autumn Term 2023 Funding- Closing date Wednesday, 7 June 2023.

Please discuss requests with your Area SENCo, prior to submission, and contact them for

support/guidance with all aspects of inclusion and/or SEND

Important note: Requests received after the published closing dates will not be considered until the following term.

Changes on how to claim AIS Funding

We just wanted to make you aware about changes on how to claim for your AIS Funding.

We have created a new online form that should make the process of claiming for your child in your setting quicker and easier.

In future if your setting has a child who is entitled to AIS funding please use the link below to send in your claims for each month before the 15^th  for  example August’s claim needs to be in by the 15, September making sure you are only claiming for one month at a time.

We want to assure you that if you have already sent in claim form, we can confirm these will be processed but any received after the 5, August 2022 will not be processed and will be declined.

Please ensure that it is your responsibility to fill in the online form correctly as we will no longer be chasing missed weeks.

Time: 6.30-8.30pm

Places: As this training is via Zoom you are able to book as many places for staff as required, when booking please ensure you give each person’s name and email address.

Julie Fisher is an independent Early Years Adviser and Visiting Professor of Early Childhood Education at Oxford Brookes University.  Julie has achieved a doctorate for her research into the changing role of early childhood educators and is a recipient of the Nursery World Lifetime Achievement Award for her contribution to early childhood education. Julie has written numerous books, including Interacting or Interfering.

High quality interactions are recognised as fundamental to the achievement of outstanding teaching and learning in the early years. Every day, early years practitioners engage in interactions with young children that have the potential to enhance their learning. However, such is the temptation to squeeze every teaching moment out of each interaction that practitioners often interrupt children’s thinking and consequently interfere with their learning. This evening course will examine the knowledge, timing and sensitivity necessary to interact effectively. It will consider how practitioners effectively extend and enhance children’s language and communication through natural, genuine conversations. Through the use of DVD footage Julie will explore the role of the practitioner in both adult-led and child-led situations, providing opportunities to reflect on how to tune in to children’s current thinking and how to respond in ways that are of benefit to their learning and development.
