Council funding helps to reduce poverty and social isolation in Exmouth
Open Door Exmouth received nearly £14,000 from East Devon District Council, through the UK Government’s Contain Outbreak Management Fund. This helped the charity furnish its Community Café and extend its opening hours to include Saturdays throughout 2024, as well as supporting the running costs of its Parent Hub and Community Craft Room. As a result, the charity was able to support more people facing financial hardship, mental health struggles, homelessness, and social isolation.

Are you taking part in Food Waste Action Week?
Research shows that buying items loose (unpackaged) is an effective way to reduce your household food waste, as you are more likely to purchase just the amount that you need. If all apples, bananas, and potatoes were sold loose, 60,000 tonnes of food waste could be saved every year. That’s 8.2 million shopping baskets!
Find out more about Food Waste Action Week on the Love Food Hate Waste website.
