Clear up operations underway following the stormy weather
Teams from East Devon District Council have been out and about tidying local beaches, and beach hut owners in Budleigh Salterton and Seaton who have been directly affected by Storm Nelson have been contacted. In Sidmouth, the steps down to the sea by Jacob's Ladder have been closed off, and engineers are arranging for repair work to be carried out as soon as is possible.
Pirate-themed play park opened in Beer
Beer and Branscombe Councillor, John Heath, with Councillor Geoff Jung, East Devon District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Coast, Country, and Environment
Beer children can now embark on pirate adventures, sailing the seven seas, thanks to a brand-new seafront play park.
It all comes as part of a £400k district-wide revamp by the council, with refurbishments planned for a host of play areas across the district.
Matting increasing accessibility at pebbly beaches
Beer and Branscombe Councillor, John Heath, with Councillor Geoff Jung, East Devon District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Coast, Country, and Environment
120 metres of additional matting was laid along the pebbly beach in Beer recently, improving access for residents and visitors, such as wheelchair and mobility scooter users.
This project builds upon the work done jointly with Beer Parish Council last July, and was supported by a generous grant of £5,300 from the East Devon National Landscape’s Access for All fund.
Similar projects are planned for Seaton, Sidmouth, and Budleigh Salterton, as part of East Devon District Council's commitment to improving access for all.
Exmouth’s first Gate to Plate festival is being planned for 28 April
Celebrate all the fantastic food and craft on your doorstep at this fantastic open-air event on Exmouth's Strand.
The event, from 10am - 4pm, is free to attend, funded by East Devon District Council and delivered by eat:Festivals
