Work is underway to install a steel sheet pile wall along a section of the town's seafront, going much deeper, providing stronger, effective defences from the coast. This is the first phase of the project, with plans for the aesthetic finish of the wall expected later this year.

120 metres of additional matting was laid along the pebbly beach in Beer recently, improving access for residents and visitors, such as wheelchair and mobility scooter users. Similar projects are planned for Seaton, Sidmouth, and Budleigh Salterton, as part of East Devon District Council's commitment to improving access for all.

This project builds upon the work done jointly with Beer Parish Council last July, and was supported by a generous grant of £5,300 from the East Devon National Landscape’s Access for All fund.
