Exe Estuary Trail section to be closed for repairs
 Devon County Council is closing a section of the Exe Estuary Trail near Lympstone for three months, from Monday 18 September, to carry out essential repairs.
A signed diversion route will be in place enabling pedestrians to use the footpath on Exeter Road. Cyclists will need to cross over Exeter Road and follow the slightly longer route which avoids cycling on the main road.
Work to prevent flooding on the River Sid
 Work is expected to begin in Sidmouth on Monday, 18 September, lasting two to three days, to move gravel from the river to the beach, to reduce the risk of flooding.
Wildlife Thrives in Protected Exe Estuary
 Since 2018, two wildlife refuges have protected water birds on the Exe Estuary. Exmouth Local Nature Reserve’s wildlife refuge operates from 15 September to 31 December every year, while Dawlish Warren National Nature Reserve wildlife refuge operates year round.
As Exmouth’s wildlife refuge is due to start again this month, people are asked to avoid entering both refuges at this crucial time of year when thousands of birds start their annual migration to feast on the rich food provided by the Exe. Both wildlife refuges are marked by yellow buoys.
Staff Member Recognised for Quick Thinking First Aid Efforts
 Seasonal operative Simon Moulder has been commended by EDDC for his quick thinking first aid, after coming to the aid of a member of the public who had taken ill in Exmouth.
The incident happened in July on the Strand in Exmouth, while Simon was working for the council carrying out litter picking.
Simon took advice from a 999 call handler and administered first aid until ambulance crews arrived.
Andrew Hancock, Assistant Director for Street Scene, said: "A huge thank you to Simon for his willingness to assist and his quick actions, which may have helped save someone’s life. We want to acknowledge and appreciate such outstanding efforts within our organisation. Simon has exemplified our core values of excellence, compassion in caring for our residents and commitment to the well-being of others."

Whimple Post Office Changes
A new lighter format Post Office branch we will be opening in Whimple.
The new Drop & Collect at Whimple Stores, will offer Post Office services from a handheld device, providing convenient access for customers to bill payments and prepaid parcel collections and returns. More complex services like personal and business banking will not be available at this branch.
A wider range of Post Office services are available from the nearby branches at West Hill Post Office, West Hill Road, West Hill, Ottery St Mary, Devon, EX11 1TY and Cranbrook Post Office, Gallops Court, Younghayes Road, Cranbrook, Exeter,EX5 7DR.
Customer information materials will also be available at the premises of the new Post Office branch.

#Ask About Asthma
 #AskAboutAsthma is an annual campaign led by NHS England–London. It highlights simple changes to children and young people’s care that will make a big difference to how they experience their asthma.
If you have asthma, or you are the parent of a child or young person with asthma, you can speak to your GP or GP practice nurse to discuss getting the right asthma care in place. There are four simple steps, that the campaign calls ‘asks’, which can help children and young people to manage their asthma and live full, active lives:
- Get an asthma action plan in place
- Understand how to use inhalers correctly
- Schedule an asthma review – every year and after every attack
- Consider air pollution and its impact on lung health
