Hello,

This weekend the 👑King's Coronation is being marked with parties, the Big Lunch and the Big Help Out. Due to the bank holiday, ♻️recycling and waste collections will be one day later.

There's lots of upcoming events with Wild East Devon including a 🚣guided canoe safari.

Recycling and waste collections one day later

Collections of recycling, refuse and green waste will be one day later, due to the King's Coronation bank holiday.

East Devon's Coronation events

In Axminster there's a King’s Coronation Picnic on The Minster Green on Sunday 7 May from 3pm-6pm.

Bring a picnic along to Beer's Coronation Party on the Jubilee with children’s entertainment on Sunday 7 May from 2pm.

On Saturday 6 May from 2pm-5pm in Budleigh Salterton there's a Coronation Tea Party at Seachange, East Budleigh Road. If you'd like to celebrate all weekend long, there's a Coronation Street Party on the High Street too on Sunday 7 May from 12.30pm-5.30pm.

On Colyton's Peace Memorial Playing Fields there'll be a Coronation Party in the Park on Saturday 6 May from 6pm-10pm. Bring along some dancing shoes for Church Street's Party with a DJ on Sunday 7 May from 12.30pm-3pm.

On Sunday 7 May from 11am-10pm, Honiton is taking part in the Big Lunch, a national event to bring neighbours and communities together. You can find more Big Lunch events on this interactive map.

Watch the livestream of the Coronation from 10am and the Coronation Concert from 7pm on the big screen at Seaton Gateway with cream tea and bar on Saturday 6 May.

If you're in Sidmouth, head down to Market Square for a Coronation Street Party on Sunday 7 May from 4pm-7pm.

The Big Help Out has been set up to help people use this bank holiday weekend to make a difference in their community, Download the app to find out about volunteering opportunities near you. 


Are you decluttering your home this Spring?

If you’re getting rid of any of the following items, please consider donating them to help vulnerable refugees in the local area. Collections will be taken from Blackdown House, Honiton on 11, 18 and 25 May between 9am-2pm.

English classes would appreciate donations of folders, workbooks, colouring pens, pens and pencils.

Donations have also been requested for children's sensory toys, soft toys and toys suitable for babies to 3-year-olds.

Other requested items include women's and men's clothing, shoes/trainers, sports clothing (including football, cricket, and volleyball items) and second-hand, unlocked, wiped smart mobile phones.

Take a guided canoe safari on the Axe Estuary

Wild East Devon’s events season started with beautiful spring bluebell walks and the successful launch of Wild Honiton.

Book onto our other events where we will take you on a guided canoe safari on the Axe estuary, a walk around Trinity Hill nature reserve looking and listening out for the rare nocturnal nightjar and head out at dusk in search of bats.

We look forward to meeting you there!

THG Open 2023 call for entries

Get your applications in before the deadline of 5pm on 28 July

Applications are invited for the THG Open 2023. A key part of THG’s exhibition programme, the Open showcases the rich talent of both established and emerging contemporary visual artists living in the South West.

Prizes

  • Overall winner: Solo exhibition and £500 prize
  • Best emerging artist under 25: Solo exhibition in THG project space
  • Visitors’ choice: £100 prize

Cost of living support for park home residents

Under the UK Government's Energy Bills Support Scheme – Alternative Fund, all park home residents are entitled to a one off payment of £400. All park home residents who use alternative fuels such as LPG and heating oil will be entitled to an extra £200 under the Alternative Fuel Payment scheme

The closing date for submitting an application is 31 May 2023. You can book an advice session here.
