News and updates:
Steps to protect Exmouth as part of new beach management plan begin

The vital steps needed to protect Exmouth’s beach from coastal erosion were discussed at the first meeting of the town’s new beach management plan steering group.
Following a briefing during the summer, the group made up of local beach users, organisations and district and county councillors, met to formalise their aims and objectives.
Although overall sand volumes on Exmouth Beach remain constant, there have been dramatic changes with some areas losing considerable amounts while other areas are gaining sand.
South West Academy Open Exhibition at Kennaway House in Sidmouth
The South West Academy’s 21st open art exhibition will feature more than 240 paintings, sculptures, textiles and prints made by artists from across East Devon, the region and nationally.
There is work by several young artists including those just beginning their careers in the visual arts.
The free-to-enter exhibition will be open everyday from 10.30am until 4.30pm until Saturday, 13 November.

Are you planning to set off fireworks? Please remember to be respectful
Tis the season for fireworks. Residents planning to set off fireworks and businesses planning to sell them have been asked to be respectful and follow the below EDDC guidelines.
- Please let neighbours and communities know if you plan to set off fireworks so they can take precautions for their animals and vulnerable people.
- Organisers should note that all public firework displays within East Devon must also be advertised in advance.
- Stores that sell fireworks have been asked to stock ‘quieter’ fireworks (below 90db) for public use and residents have been asked to be mindful and to buy quieter fireworks for their home displays.
- The release of lanterns and balloons from EDDC property and land is prohibited, the council would like to ask all residents to follow its example and do the same.

Save your stamps and help the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity
We all receive letters and cards in the mail with postage stamps on the envelopes. They are usually just thrown away, but for Sands, each stamp is a vital source of revenue to continue their work supporting parents, families, or anyone who has been affected by the death of a baby.
Start collecting used postage stamps in aid of Sands today. Ideally stamps should be torn or cut from the envelope leaving AT LEAST half an inch of paper around the entire edge.
You can take your stamps to Honiton Library during their opening hours, who have a collection point.
Will you need to visit a care home for any reason?
From Thursday, 11 November care homes MUST refuse entry to anyone who cannot provide evidence that they are fully vaccinated in line with Government guidance (except for a few emergency situations.)
This includes all people visiting a care home in a professional capacity who must be able to show the correct proof or they will not be able to enter the care home.
Find out how to get a NHS COVID Pass. It is a simple procedure if you have the NHS App, or you can apply for a letter to be sent to you which takes a week to arrive. A COVID Pass is valid for one month.
