We wrote to you on 1 September 2024 about the development of the East Ayrshire Adult Protection Committee Improvement Plan 2025 - 2026 (The Plan). This is a further update around the next steps we told you about.

We are now sharing the results of both the staff and community consultation with the Adult Protection Committee Improvement Sub Group.
These will inform any final changes so that the Plan can be shared and approved by the East Ayrshire Adult Protection Committee on 19 November 2024.
We're also adding a glossary of terms to our Plan and we're making sure our easy read graphic Improvement Plan is communicated widely throughout our communities.

Thanks to all who joined us in the conversation cafes where we had a good mix of staff although next year we will plan a little earlier so we can have a wider representation that reflects our Adult Support and Protection workforce. In the main there was a sense that staff agree with the priorities identified in the Plan. In particular areas highlighted that were important to staff were:
- Continuing with our multi-agency training in ways that support the workforce to understand each other's roles
- Continuing to embed learning from learning reviews, ensuring this becomes standard practice.
- Strengthen public awareness of Adult Support and Protection
- Supporting early intervention and prevention in ways that divert people to the right supports and services at the right time
- Strengthen ways of communicating information about Adult Support and Protection to Unpaid Carers
- Incorporate a glossary of terms into the Plan.

Thanks to all who completed our survey in Engagement HQ, similar to our staff, we will plan a little earlier so we can have a wider representation of our community.
In particular, as a result of responses, we will look further at the ways we can communicate in our more rural, outlying areas. Areas highlighted that were the most important to our communities are:
- People feel safer in their homes and free from abuse
- Fewer people are lonely and socially isolated
- Our Unpaid Carers are more supported when caring for adults at risk of harm
- People have a better understanding of Adult Support and Protection
- People have better Mental Health
- Our Young People receive the right support, at the right time, by the right service
- Fewer people have problems with drugs or alcohol

Our final Plan will be available on our website from January 2025 along with the graphic easy read.
