 East Ayrshire Leisure has launched it's Warm Welcome venues throughout East Ayrshire, offering warm spaces in venues throughout the area. We've listed these under each ward. Keep an eye on the EAL webpages for updates

Annick
Hamilton Gardens, Stewarton runs a lunch club for older adults on Tuesday and Thursday each week.
St. Maurs Gardens has a daily lunch club running Monday to Friday. It offers a hot meal both for tenants in the unit and the wider community. Residents and people from the community start arriving between 10.30 – 11.00am for dominoes a cuppa and a chat, and they can listen to music or take part in activities like chair based exercise on a Monday, Thursday and Friday afternoons until 3.30pm.
They also run monthly hearing aid clinics and health checks.

Thrive Stewarton
Thrive Stewarton is running a warm community space every Wednesday through John Knox Church, offering a variety of hobbies, crafts and activities and soup, all of which are free.

St. Columba’s Parish Church, Stewarton is providing a warm space in the church hall with tea coffee and biscuits, newspapers, magazines and games.

North West Kilmarnock Community Partnership
"Have a meal on us – no judgement. Come along and have a free bowl of soup, crusty bread, tea or coffee and socialise with others."
North West Kilmarnock Community Partnership in NWKLEUS are holding warm spaces sessions open to all in the community. These will be held at least once a week and will offer hot food/drinks.

Gatehead Bridge Project
Gatehead Bridge Project is planning to offer a lunch club at least once during the week and possibly including a weekend day too. They look to offer hot food and warm space for those in the community.
Bonnyton Community Association
Kilmarnock Baptist Church
Kilmarnock Baptist Church - Renew KBC wellbeing cafe is a warm community space which is open every Thursday from 10.30am till 2.00pm.
The cafe at Old Mill Road is a quiet space where it’s ok not to be ok. A space to bring or share hobbies and activities. Refreshments, activities and wi-fi are free and adults can relax, chat, keep warm or just enjoy peace in a quiet area.
Activities are based around the five ways to wellbeing which promote good mental and emotional health.

Central Evangelical Church
East Ayrshire Churches Homelessness Action (EACHa)
East Ayrshire Churches Homelessness Action (EACHa) - EACHa offers a free lunch, plus food parcels at their Community Friends sessions from 1.00pm to 3.00pm on Mondays and Wednesdays in New Laigh Kirk’s halls in John Finnie Street.
EACHa’s partners in East Ayrshire Council, the NHS and Citizens Advice bureau attend to offer one-to one support.
Another valuable service offered by EACHa is Friendly Fresh Start, which helps people settle into their new homes. Cleaning packs and small household items are available by referral by Social Services and Women’s Aid.

Howard Centre
The Well Café at the Howard Centre in Portland Road is a place to see old friends and meet new ones. It serves home cooked food at affordable prices and is staffed by friendly volunteers.

The Salvation Army’s warm space

Kris Boyd charity and Ayrshire College
Funding from the Kris Boyd Charity has allowed partnership working at Ayrshire College Community Sports Hub.
Active Schools, Ayrshire College and the Vibrant Communities Home link Team are facilitating a FREE 6 week family food programme which has been named ‘BeAwesome’ by the families taking part.
Links have been made with the Hospitality section at Ayrshire College, to give parents and carers the opportunity to learn about front and back of house service in restaurants and take part in weekly cooking sessions.
Parents/carer can also learn about cooking on a budget and take home all foods prepared on campus.

Christmas dinner
For Christmas, participants will have the opportunity to prepare a Christmas meal and serve it to their invited family members in Ayrshire College ‘The Salt and Barrel’ restaurant at the end of the programme.

Former Scotland Player, Kris Boyd will attend the Christmas meal to meet families and participate in a Q&A session.
Footy fun
While parents are learning about the Hospitality Sector the children and young people can take part in football coaching sessions led by Kilmarnock Community Sports Trust or fun Sports and Fitness sessions which led solely by Sports Science and Health & Fitness student volunteers.
Younger children can enjoy a variety of early years activities in the creche.
Great gear
To top it off the young people are provided with a t-shirt, shorts, socks and a rain jacket and the parents/carers get an apron and t-shirt. Families from Stewarton, Kilmarnock, St. Josephs, Loudoun and Grange Education group are attending the BeAwesome Programme.

St Kentigern’s Church - Dunbar Drive
- St Kentigern’s Community Cafe is open from 10 am till 12 noon every Wednesday
- The café offers a warm space to enjoy a warming cuppa in good company.

- East Ayrshire Foodbank every Tuesday and Thursday from 4.00pm to 6.00pm
- This operates via vouchers which can be obtained from local agencies, including Citizens Advice Bureau

- Wednesday Café from 10am till 12 noon
- In addition to tasty food, visitors can enjoy music, dominoes, board games and colouring books, catering for all ages.

Shortlees
Shortlees Community Centre have extended their Food Larder to offer a warm space on a Wednesday from 1.00pm – 3.00pm
Shortlees Community Centre - Parents Drop In on a Monday afternoon from 12.30-2.45pm. Free Tea, coffee and lunch available. Parents can get details of the Cost of Living help and advice service and help to apply for Scottish Child Payment.
Riccarton
Riccarton Bowling Club have expressed an interest in developing a warm space in the Bowling club. Community Worker has sent the application details and discussed various options with them. CoL Publicity materials have been shared with the group.
Bellfield Community Council has been provided with the CoL publicity materials should they wish to pursue this

In Darvel, all the community groups have come together to provide a "Warm Welcome" group to help over the winter months.

- initially it is using VERVE premises
- if numbers exceed capacity it will then move to Darvel Parish Church hall
- A committee has been set up with a representatives from each group

Ross Court in Galston has a daily lunch club for tenants and people in the community. This allows people to get a hot meal in a warm space and activities are provided 3 days a week.

Ellisland Court has a daily lunch club and Breakfast club on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is available to tenants and people in the community and there are activities running four days a week.
Mauchline Parish Church has a Shoppers Lunch open every 3rd Thursday from 11.30-1.30pm.

Catrine Community Action Plan Group is starting the” 12 O’clock Gang” for a brew and blether and some soup and sandwiches at Lodge St Johns, Sorn Street Catrine every Tuesday 12noon – 2.00pm

Auchinleck Indoor Bowling club is planning to open a warm space 2 days a week (details to follow)

Sorn Village Hall Committee is opening up the Hall for a wee blether and a cup of Tea. Children from the community will be there each week to serve residents and join people for a chat.

Afton Court in New Cumnock has a daily lunch club and a programme of activities (on four days a week) for older adults who are tenants or who live in the local community
New Cumnock Parish Church holds a coffee morning every Thursday from 9.45 – 12noon
New Cumnock Working Men’s Club/New Cumnock Community Hub Larder are interested in doing more. Their larder is open on Mondays from 9.00am - 12noon
New Cumnock Parental Empowerment programme is held every Friday morning at New Cumnock PS with a group of parents from the school.
The programme is based on our Parental Empowerment blog containing a vast amount of information to empower parents.
Parents were made aware of the Cost of Living help and advice service and have the option of being linked into the Parent Employability Fund should a cost be attached to any course, volunteering, job seeking etc they have in mind.
Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided every Friday morning, while the group progress through a chosen topic from the blog.
Netherthird
Netherthird Community Centre runs a free “Warm Welcome Club” on a Monday 1.30pm- 3.30pm. Tea, coffee and biscuits with some entertainment and activities for everyone.
Ochiltree

Rowantree Court in Drongan has a daily lunch club running for older adults who are tenants or who live in the local community. Activities are also run four days a week.
Drongan Community Association have completed their COL application, they will be opening their warm hub 1-2 days a week.
Bellsbank
Bellsbank Senior Citizens group and Bellsbank Church are working together to develop a warm hub. The hub will open on Mondays from 10.30am - 12.30pm.
Rankinston
Rankinston Community Association are setting up a warm hub. (Details to follow).
Patna
Patna is planning to open a community food larder. Meeting arranged to take this forward.

Shire Housing has been awarded £25k by the Big Lotteries Community Fund which they are putting towards Warm Hubs in East Ayrshire.
Their Community Co-ordinator has been liaising with these groups to distribute the funds once they arrive.

Carer's Allowance
Carers in Scotland who were getting Carer’s Allowance on October 10, will receive a Carer’s Allowance Supplement of £245.70. This payment, made twice per year to people in Scotland who receive Carers Allowance, will be made automatically on 9th December. The supplement is an extra payment, paid twice a year, for people in Scotland who get Carer’s Allowance to top up the level of Carers Allowance that they receive and is not treated as an additional income by any other means tested benefit.
