Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission carried out their revisit between 31 January and 2 February. Inspectors have recognised that there has been “sufficient progress” in eight areas, previously identified as areas of weakness. You can read more about the letter that has been published later in the bulletin. Thank you again to everyone for their involvement in supporting this revisit and for sharing your time and your views.

Joint Local Area SEND Revisit
Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission carried out an area revisit SEND inspection between 31 January and 3 February 2022.
Inspectors recognised there had been “sufficient progress” in eight areas, previously identified as areas of weakness.
Inspectors, however, found that more needs to be done to make progress in six areas including improving parent satisfaction and the management and sharing of information within EHC plans.

SEND Review: Right support Right place Right time
The Government have published their Green Paper: SEND Review: Right support Right place Right time.
The SEND Review sets out the government’s proposals for a system that offers children and young people the opportunity to thrive, with access to the right support, in the right place, and at the right time, so they can fulfil their potential and lead happy, healthy and productive adult lives.
Working together, the government is running some face-to-face and virtual workshops. They will give you the opportunity to hear more about the proposals and ask questions.

Community Inclusion: Changing Places
People with additional needs have welcomed a £150k grant to enable Dudley Council to add three specialised toilet and change facilities in the borough.
Facilities will be installed at Dudley Zoo, Black Country Living Museum and the Cornbow Centre in Halesowen by 2024.

Consultation on proposed changes to Dudley's Transport Policy for SEND
We're reviewing our school transport policy and would like your thoughts on some of our proposed amends.
The council launched a consultation on the 8 March 2022, and welcomes feedback from young people, parents, carers and educational settings over the next 90 days. Closing date is 6 June 2022.

Annual Survey Results
Dudley Parent Carer Forum are delighted to release their Annual Survey Report on 1 April 2022. The report has been developed following an extensive survey of parent carers in the borough, which ran between September and November 2021.

Local Offer
Our ‘new’ Local Offer launched last year (June, 2021). Although we know we still have long way to go until we are fully happy with all of the content, it was important that we share something as soon as possible to both demonstrate how this Local Offer is going to be different to our previous one and to gain feedback from users to inform ongoing improvement and development.

Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust are signing-up to the Power of Youth Charter. This means we are making a public commitment and taking meaningful action to empower children and young people to make positive differences on issues that affect their lives, communities, and the broader society.

SEND Work Experience Project
Young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) can struggle to secure work experience and this is a key part of their curriculum to support their confidence as they prepare to transition to the workplace.
Throughout May, June and July, Provision House is supporting several pop-up shops for young people with SEND to sell and advertise preloved items and handcrafted pieces.

Dudley SENDIASS (special educational needs & disabilities information advice and support service) is running a range of online activities over the coming months to help parents and carers or young people with SEND.
