 Support for staff and arrangements for the Queen’s funeral
Interim Chief Executive, Jan Spicer, would like to to thank everyone who has been involved in our response to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s death. Colleagues from many services have worked tirelessly to ensure our plans ran smoothly including at County Hall on Sunday hosting the proclamation of King Charles III, and organising for the public to sign the Book of Condolence in the Ante Chamber.
 Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II – funeral and period of national mourning guidance on working arrangements
A period of national mourning commenced on Friday 9 September 2022 and will conclude at the end of Monday 19 September 2022 which is the date of the state funeral for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This day has been declared a bank holiday.

 Crowds gathered at County Hall as our new King is proclaimed
Crowds, including scores of invited dignitaries, gathered in the grounds of County Hall in Exeter on Sunday 11 September to hear the High Sheriff of Devon, Richard Youngman, officially read the Proclamation confirming King Charles III as monarch.

Increased cyber threat activity during the period of national mourning
During this period following the death of Her Majesty The Queen, including her Lying-in-State and State Funeral, there may be a potential increase in cybercriminal behaviours, including phishing activity and other scams. As with all major events, criminals may seek to exploit the death of Her Majesty The Queen for their own gain.

Health and wellbeing support
The death of the Queen, the period of mourning and the funeral on Monday 19 September are momentous events which some people could find distressing or concerning. If you are experiencing any unexpected feelings or memories of other losses, there is a range of support available for you.
It’s natural to feel sad at times, but if you need additional help and support let someone know.
If you line manage people, make sure they are OK and remind them of the range of support available.
