Spring Bank Holiday Date 2020
Message from Andrew Brent, Policy and Strategy Officer (Education)
You may have seen the recent announcement that the spring Bank Holiday will be moved from Monday 4 May 2020 to Friday 8 May 2020. This is related to recognition of the 75th anniversary of the end of World War 2 in Europe.
This does not impact on the school terms recommended by Devon County Council as the week commencing 4 May falls in the middle of the first summer half term. However, individual schools may want to review their own terms and non-pupil days. If there are any amendments to your own terms and non-pupil day information, please let your parents and the Local Authority know as soon as possible.
Some parents could already have booked a trip away for the Bank Holiday weekend 2-4 May 2020. If so, they may want to reconsider for employment reasons and because the Monday will now not be a Bank Holiday. Any parents who cannot change a commitment they have already made could be invited to discuss this with school.
