Book Your Place at the CSAB Safeguarding Conference 2026
Bookings are now open for our virtual CSAB Safeguarding Conference 2026 which will take place on MS Teams on Friday 16 October 2026. This year's conference offers managers and practitioners an opportunity to enhance their safeguarding knowledge, strengthen legal literacy and learn from real-life experiences which can improve practice and outcomes for adults at risk.
Delivered as 2 half-day sessions, delegates can attend either session or register for the full day. Expert speakers will cover key safeguarding legislation, partnership working, self-neglect, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and learning from lived experience and safeguarding reviews.

Publication of SAR; Georgina
A SAR takes place where an adult with needs for care and support died or experienced abuse or neglect and there are concerns about how agencies worked together to protect them.
Georgina lived with complex health needs including dementia, frailty and reduced mobility, and was 85 years old when she sadly died in November 2024.
The SAR will be published in October 2026, with a learning session facilitated by the Independent Reviewer, Sarah Hutton delivered in November 2026.

Publication of SAR; Martin
Martin experienced self-neglect and multiple disadvantages, he sadly died in May 2024 aged 44 years old. Following his death a SAR was commissioned which will be published later this month.
Learning opportunity

Safeguarding Adults Week 2026: Every Voice. Every Choice.
This year's for National Safeguarding Adults Week coordinated by the Ann Craft Trust (ACT) will take place on 16 – 22 November 2026. The theme is "Every Voice. Every Choice."
The campaign highlights the importance of ensuring adults are listened to, involved in decisions about their safety and empowered to make choices that support their wellbeing.
Throughout the week, organisations and communities will focus on key safeguarding topics including person-centred conversations, choice and control, co-production, professional curiosity, learning from experience, community action and wellbeing.
The week promotes the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal, encouraging everyone to work together to create safer, more supportive communities where people feel heard, respected and protected.
Free online seminars
ACT will be running a series of free online seminars throughout Safeguarding Adults Week.

Celebrate Excellence in Adult Safeguarding: Nominations are open for the 2026 National Awards
Do you know an individual or team who consistently goes above and beyond to safeguard adults and support families? Nominations are now open for the National Safeguarding Adults Board Managers Network's 2026 "We See You – We Hear You" Safeguarding Excellence Awards.
Now in their sixth year, these prestigious awards recognise outstanding professionals and teams across England who demonstrate exceptional commitment to safeguarding. Awards are available across eight categories, including Empowerment, Prevention, Protection, Partnership, Innovation, and the Lifetime Achievement Award for those with more than 15 years of safeguarding experience.
Whether they inspire others, overcome barriers, share their expertise, or make a real difference through partnership working, this is an opportunity to recognise their dedication on a national stage.
Nominations close on 20 October 2026. Winners will be announced during National Safeguarding Adults Week, with successful nominees receiving national recognition through the "We See You – We Hear You" campaign.
If you know someone deserving of recognition, take a few minutes to submit a nomination and help celebrate the outstanding work being carried out in adult safeguarding every day.

Upcoming Free Webinar: Hoarding and Older People
Hourglass (Safer Ageing) is inviting professionals, families, carers and anyone interested in supporting older people to attend a free online webinar, "Hoarding and Older People: The Impact on Older People, Families and Professionals", on Wednesday 28 October 2026.
The session will explore the challenges associated with hoarding behaviours and their impact on older individuals, their loved ones and the professionals who support them. The webinar takes place online from 12:30pm to 1:30pm and is free to attend.
Participants will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights, increase their understanding of hoarding-related issues and learn more about effective support approaches. Those interested can register via the event link.

Gateway 4 Women Open Day
Gateway 4 Women are delighted to invite local professionals, teams and partner organisations to their upcoming Open Day. This is a great opportunity to tour the centre, meet the team and learn more about the wide range of support, courses and activities available to women across the community.
Many professionals are familiar with Gateway 4 Women, but may not realise the full extent of the support they provide. Their service has grown significantly over time and they are keen to reconnect with local networks, explain their referral pathways and explore how they can work together to better support women who need their help.
