All the remaining infection prevention and control (IPC) judgements are being removed from profile pages on the CQC website as we are no longer using the same inspection model. These are the ticks and crosses that show against 8 domains related to IPC that we started publishing during the pandemic.
In new assessments this area will be looked at under its own quality statement. Because the judgements displayed are no longer updated they are potentially misleading. Previous reports will stay published on the website so people can find earlier findings on the timeline page of a profile in the same way they could any historic inspection.

CQC has been carrying out project work to support innovation and improvement in medicines sustainability. We are currently inviting the submission of case studies from large and small medicine sustainability projects, across all sectors. These could be complete, in the planning stages or ongoing projects.
Sharing your successes and the challenges you’ve encountered and overcome along the way will help others to learn and develop their approaches to medicines sustainability. With your permission we may share your case study in our resource library.

Care Home Open Week takes place from 24-30 June 2024. This annual event is dedicated to showcasing the warmth, care, and vibrant communities that care homes provide to residents across the country.
Community engagement in care homes is vital for enhancing residents' well-being and social connections. It fosters a supportive environment, promotes inclusivity and enriches daily life. Community engagement can also align well with CQC's regulations and assessment framework, which emphasise person-centred care and community involvement.
Engaging the community can enhance overall care quality. Integration with local lives, local plans and local initiatives help people find purpose. It can make what can be a fearful decision about care become easier.
