Act now to beat COVID-19 and keep city safe

Council leaders are becoming increasingly concerned about a sustained rise in the number of positive COVID-19 cases in Coventry.

Over the past two weeks, the number of cases per 100,000 of the population in the city has risen from 30 to more than 70.

The pattern of the number of positive cases has changed from outbreaks in specific areas to more widespread community transmissions.

Tapestry Conservation at St Mary's Guildhall

A specialist textile conservator paid a welcome visit to St Mary’s Guildhall recently to carry out a visual survey of the Guildhall’s stunning tapestry.

Although the tapestry has been subject to visual inspections, most recently in 2019, the last time any major conservation was carried out is thought to be around 40 years ago.

While the conservator was there,Cllr Jim O'Boyle was able to discuss her work on the tapestry and was then able to provide an update about the plans for St Mary’s. See what he had to say on the Council's YouTube Channel.

NHS COVID-19 Test and Trace App advice for businesses and residents

The NHS Test and Trace App is available for people over 16 to download to help to restrict the spread of COVID-19.

Download the NHS COVID-19 App from:

The NHS Test and Trace App uses proven technology from Apple and Google, designed to protect every user’s privacy. It will be used in England and Wales, alongside traditional contact tracing.

It will notify users if they come into contact with someone who later tests positive for coronavirus.

Hospitality venues, including bars, restaurants and a number of other venues will be expected to display a QR code at the entrance to the premises. The QR code will be unique to the venue and will enable app users to check in when they arrive at a location.

View a full list of venues that will need to comply

By scanning a QR code app users will be helping the NHS to trace and alert individuals that may have been in close contact with a person who has tested positive for coronavirus.

App users will be able to report symptoms, and book a coronavirus test using the app.

The “Check-in” feature anonymously alerts users who have been at the same venue at the same time.

Below are a list of videos, which are all available on the NHS' YouTube channel, that explain the various features of the app.
