Childcare Provider Special Bulletin - 18th December


New Childcare Grants Now Available!

We are pleased to announce that the Childcare and Early Years Service are offering funding for Training Attendance Allowance and completion of the Childminder Assistant Qualification.

All non-maintained childcare providers registered with Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) based in Caerphilly County Borough are eligible to apply. This includes childminders, private and voluntary sector providers, offering day care, wrap around care, holiday play schemes, out of school childcare clubs, etc.

Applications must be submitted to earlyyearsfinance@caerphilly.gov.uk where they will be fully considered to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria. If successful, all payments will be processed within 10 working days.

The timeframe for the funding to be claimed is between 1st October 2023 to 31st March 2024.

The closing date for applications is Friday 22nd March 2024.

Applications submitted after this date cannot be considered.

Childminder Assistant Qualification Grant 2023 – 2024

In accordance with the latest changes to the National Minimum Standards for Regulated Childcare for children up to the age of 12 years (last updated November 2023), all Childcare Assistants are required to complete the Professional Association of Childcare and Early Years (PACEY) UNIT 326: Introduction to home-based Childcare qualification by the end of November 2024.

This grant is to reimburse individuals for the full cost of the course, up to a maximum of £192, if purchased between 1 October 2023, and 31 March 2024. You will need to provide proof of payment with your application.

Training Attendance Allowance 2023-2024

The Training Attendance Allowance is available to support CIW registered Non-Maintained Childcare providers to provide high quality childcare, which can be achieved through upskilling the workforce.

The funding is available for staff to attend training in specific mandatory and best practice courses as outlined in the application form.
