National Home Security Month

National Home Security Month Logo

This October sees the return of National Home Security Month (NHSM), urging you to consider the way you keep your family, possessions and home safe by creating awareness around the importance of home security.

Here's 5 top tips on how to keep your home and valuables safe.

  1. Befriend your neighbours: On these long autumn nights, it’s good to know that someone you trust is keeping an eye on your home, and listening out for any strange sounds.

  2. Be Responsible: It is your duty to make sure your personal items are secure.
  3. Avoid hiding your spare keys under a doormat or plant pot. Instead give them to a person you trust.
  4. Traveling: We don’t always want to part with our favourite items, but when traveling, it’s advisable to leave them behind. For example Laptops, diamond rings etc...
  5. Social media: It’s so tempting to make public that you are away on holiday but, as much as it seems like a good idea, it’s not. Why not share your photos after you've been away?
