Don’t lose your voice
Every year the electoral register is updated so that everyone who has the right to vote in upcoming elections can have their say.
Letters were sent out in July asking you to check your details and follow the steps in the letter. We now have staff out door-to-door canvassing across the district. Those properties where a response is required and have not responded yet will be visited by our canvassers to confirm the information.
The annual canvass ensures that Bradford Council can keep the electoral register up to date, identifying any residents who are not registered to vote so that they can be encouraged to do so.
How do I pay the daily CAZ charge?
You will not receive a notification or alert advising you that you have entered the zone and payment is due; you as a driver are fully responsible for understanding and managing all payments.
You can check if your vehicle is chargeable on the Government website and also view the map of the Bradford Clean Air Zone to help you determine if you need to pay a charge.
If your vehicle is chargeable you will need to go online to make your payment. Passenger cars and motorbike do not need to pay to drive in the Bradford Clean Air Zone.
Payment must be made online at www.gov.uk/clean-air-zones or by calling the National Contact Centre on 0300 029 8888 (Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm, and Saturday, 8am to 4pm).
You can pay 6 days before the day of your visit, on the day of your visit or up to 6 days after the day of your visit.
A 'day' is classified as midnight to midnight, not 24 hours from when you enter the zone. During that midnight to midnight timeframe, you can enter and leave the zone numerous times and only incur a single charge. However, if you cross the midnight threshold you will be charged for two days.
Set up an account – available now
If you are a business you can set up a business user account to manage and process payments at www.gov.uk/clean-air-zones to help you check multiple vehicles, assign account managers and set up a bank mandate.
To create an account you’ll need your company name, an email address, you can also upload a CSV file of your vehicle registration numbers.

Bradford awarded £250,000 to boost volunteering for UK City of Culture 2025
London 2012 legacy funder, Spirit of 2012 has today announced the award of a quarter of a million pounds to us to develop volunteering in the area, delivering plans set out in the successful UK City of Culture 2025 bid for the district.
Bradford Cultural Volunteering Programme will lay the groundwork for the volunteer programme for UK City of Culture 2025, recruiting 1,750 volunteers on the run up and creating pathways into cultural volunteering. The project is managed by us in collaboration with Community Action Bradford & District and Bradford Culture Company - the organisation that will deliver the district's UK City of Culture 2025 programme.
The Bradford district, which won the UK City of Culture 2025 designation in May, is one of four locations which have been awarded a grant from the Volunteering Cities fund. The other three locations are Conwy, Great Yarmouth and East Suffolk, and Medway.
Expansion plans for new northern food hub relocating St James Wholesale Market take a step forward
We have announced the signing of an ‘Option to Purchase’ unused former landfill land at Staithgate Lane to the south of the district to build a new larger, greener and state of the art northern food hub to replace its current St James Wholesale Market.
Bradford’s St James Market is already the biggest wholesale market site in Yorkshire and the North East, and this latest phase means the council can push ahead with its ambitions to create a new larger and more accessible modern wholesale market as part of a northern food hub which would create more jobs and strengthen the local and regional food distribution network.
The current wholesale market is fully let and the land at its present location is at maximum capacity. The new site satisfies the demand from existing businesses for expansion and gives the opportunity for new businesses to open to take advantage of over 500 local and regional retailers that use the market each week.
