BHM2022 started in Bradford with a flag raising ceremony
 A flag raising ceremony was held on Saturday 1 October 2022 in Centenary Square, to mark the start of Black History Month. City Hall clock tower is being lit up in red, yellow and green in celebration.

Exhibition - The Windrush Stories: Don’t Give Up
 A new exhibition telling the Windrush stories of residents in the Bradford district opens at Cartwright Hall on Tuesday 18 October and runs until 5 February 2023.
In 2022 a project funded by the British Library and managed by Nigel Guy, Director of Windrush Generations in partnership with our Bradford District Museums and Galleries Service set out to capture and preserve the previously untold stories of those from the Windrush Generation who came to live in the Bradford District.
As part of the project three young people with African and Caribbean heritage took part in training and interviewed 22 Black elders to discover their stories of coming to Bradford as part of the Windrush Generation.
The project aimed to record and preserve for future generations their untold stories. This exhibition seeks to share these stories, to increase understanding of their experiences, and to recognize and celebrate the contributions the Windrush Generation have made to Bradford.

Bradford Theatres - The Black Stars of St George's Hall
 A FREE Heritage talk by historian Joe Williams focusing on the amazing Black musical artists who have performed at St George's Hall in Bradford and their lasting legacy including Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Howlin Wolf, Big Mama Thornton, Paul Robeson, Shirley Bassey, Marvin Gaye, Peter Tosh, Sister Sledge and Beverley Knight.

Africa4U Association presents Black History Month celebrations
 Bradford - City Library Friday 21 October 4pm
Come and be part of a celebration of Black history, inspirational talks, African paintings, entertainment, networking, FREE light refreshments and awards recognitions. Key speakers include Bradford based Jerry Crawford and Bradford born Anthony Peltier (who will also be speaking at Black History Month celebrations taking place at the UK Houses of Parliament). Sinead Campbell, Gogo Anyanwu and Kath Canoville. There will also be special performances by OPhills and poetry by Tricia Arthur Stubbs.

Discussion with Bradford Council Staff Networks
 Thursday 27 October 10.15am - 12noon at Bradford City Hall
Join members of Bradford Council's BME Women's Staff Network and Race Equality Staff Network to hear from key figures in the Black community share lived experience about being Black and living or working in the Bradford district. There will be an opportunity to discuss and ask questions.
The panel facilitated by Bradford Cathedral's Canon Furaha Mussanzi will include:

International Creole Day takes place all over the world and is always on the last Friday in October. The day celebrates the culture, heritage, food, traditions, dress and language, literally everything Kwéyòl.
