Dallas Public Library awarded creative aging program grant;
Dallas will partner with Lifetime Arts, Inc. for the pilot program
DALLAS – The Dallas Public Library is one of three libraries in the country to receive a grant from the MetLife Foundation to fund learning programs for older adults. MetLife has awarded Lifetime Arts, Inc. a $125,000 grant to expand their groundbreaking work in creative aging through partnerships with the Dallas Public Library, and the Boston and Miami-Dade Public Libraries.
The MetLife Foundation Creative Aging Libraries Project is designed to increase the capacity of public libraries to serve older adults, provide models of high quality creative aging programs and raise public awareness about the benefits of these professionally conducted arts learning programs for older adults.
“We are very excited to partner with Lifetime Arts Inc., and to be a part of the Creative Aging Libraries Project,” said Dallas Public Library’s Programs Administrator Ronnie Jessie. “This is a great opportunity for the Dallas Public Library to strengthen our relationship with the older adult community and to explore the arts to highlight and showcase their artistic and creative contributions to the City of Dallas.”
Dallas Library staff is working with Creative Aging Arts, Inc. and expects the new program to roll out sometime in April.
