2025 Building Together: Wrapped Edition
52 Fridays. Zero skipped weeks. Every Friday at 4:15, I shared something from my week as your Mayor: the work, the data, and the direction we were taking. These messages are kind of an open letter on how Memphis governs when strategy and accountability lead.
Public safety, by the numbers:
-
38,258 serious crimes, the lowest total in 25+ years
-
15,549 fewer than 2024 and 27,536 fewer than 2023
-
68 fewer murder victims than 2024 and 163 fewer than 2023
-
October–December on track to be the lowest three-month period since 2001
52 straight weeks of public safety data, shared openly (click below for full dashboard)
 Trust, rebuilt on the ground:
-
Neighborhood Impact Tours in Westwood, Orange Mound, Alcy Ball, and Raleigh
-
Citywide zone-based street maintenance, replacing reactive cleanup with proactive care
-
Blight Strike Teams are active every week, across ZIP codes citywide
-
311 system improvement partnership with FedEx, applying private-sector best practices
Transparency, made routine:
Positioning Memphis for what’s next:
 Youth at the center:
-
1,800 young people placed through MPLOY, with a path to 3,000 in 2026
-
Year-round youth pathways expanded, linking paid work, stipends, and leadership development
-
Mayor’s Young Professionals Advisory Committee was launched
-
Teen Summit added to 901 Day, elevating youth voice and leadership
Culture and hope:
How the story traveled:
-
4.3 million views and 111,000+ interactions across city platforms
- 60% year-over-year engagement growth
-
350+ media interviews coordinated
And because of all of this transparency and commitment to telling the Memphis story, I was honored to be recognized as PRSA Memphis’ Communicator of the Year.
The takeaway: We didn’t just talk about progress. We tracked it. We shared it. And we built it together.

Building Memphis, Together:

This season, we’re reflecting on what it means to show up for our city every single day.
Through teamwork, dedication, and a shared commitment to Memphis, these moments represent progress you can feel across our neighborhoods.
Thank you to our city employees, partners, and residents who made this year one to be proud of. Here’s to continuing the work and building an even stronger Memphis together.
