We're Traveling: Trip Fee Changes

!

We're excited about the calendar of trips offered for 2025-2026.  You'll find the calendar in this newsletter along with descriptions of several upcoming trips.  We also want to make you aware of a new fee that will impact some participants.

Participants Residing in Rock Hill City Limits:  No fee changes. Fees listed for each trip are in effect as listed.

Participants Residing Outside Rock Hill City Limits:  For individuals living outside the city limits there is now a $75 annual fee (July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026) to participate in DAY TRIPS. Overnight trips are NOT affected. This one-time fee covers access to any day trip offered through Rock Hill Parks, Recreation and Tourism separate from Lifelong Learning. You are still responsible for the cost of the trip.

Showing Proof of Residency:  To participate in City of Rock Hill Parks, Recreation and Tourism programs, proof of residency must be provided at the time of registration for the program or before. These documents will be accepted as proof of residency:

  • Lease/rental agreement, electric bill or water bill.

The residency that is submitted must be a current bill within the last 60 days from the date submitted. All proof of residency may either be brought in paper form to any PRT facility or can be uploaded and emailed to prtadmin@cityofrockhill.com. Please be sure to note the participant’s name and registered program if emailing documentation.

Background: The York County Council recently voted to eliminate the equalized recreation fee to the City of Rock Hill. This fee had been in place for nearly 20 years and allowed individuals living outside the City to pay the same rate as those living inside the City. With the County Council’s decision to no longer provide this funding, Rock Hill had to find a way to recover nearly $480,000 that was originally provided by the County for recreation. Therefore, fee structures have changed for most PRT programs.
