Sewer Replacement to Close Cresheim Valley Drive Starting Nov. 8
The Philadelphia Water Department anticipates construction of a new interceptor sewer along Cresheim Valley Drive to begin November 8, 2021.
The work will take place from Navajo Street to Cresheim Road and is expected to last for approximately six months.
A full closure of Cresheim Valley Drive from Germantown Avenue to Cresheim Road/Emlen Street will be necessary during the duration of the project to ensure the safety of workers, motorists, and residents.
The project is required to meet Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection regulations and will replace an existing sewer constructed in 1890. The new sewer will help improve water quality in Cresheim Creek and Wissahickon Creek.
While road closures and detours are required, direct impact on nearby residential areas or recreation trails is not anticipated.
Traffic between Lincoln Drive and Cresheim Valley Drive will be detoured to Allens Lane or Mount Pleasant Avenue. The reconstructed Allens Lane Bridge is open and can now be used to access Lincoln Drive.
Updates will be available on the project construction webpage: phillyh2o.info/cresheim-sewer
