PWD to survey Woodbine Avenue this month for possible green stormwater infrastructure

Contractors working with the Philadelphia Water Department will be conducting survey work for possible green stormwater infrastructure projects along Woodbine Avenue in West Philadelphia.

During July 2020, surveying will take place in Wynnefield neighborhood from 50th to 56th Streets around Woodbine Avenue.

  • Residents living near these sites may notice construction surveyors, markings on the pavement, and drilling in the right-of-way, such as sidewalks. All drilling holes, roughly the size of a coffee can, will be patched shortly after testing.
  • Work done to test this site for green improvements may be loud or slightly disruptive at times. The Water Department and our contractors will strive to avoid any impacts on neighbors.
  • Your health and safety are our top priorities at all work sites. To ensure construction site safety, our teams are utilizing protective equipment, sanitizing procedures, and social distancing measures.
  • Due to COVID-19 safety concerns, the Water Department will not distribute standard door-hangers and flyers to notify neighborhoods of this project. Please feel free to safely inform neighbors who may not have Internet access.

If you have questions or concerns, please email waterinfo@phila.gov. Our (215) 685-6300 hotline is open for emergencies.

About Green Projects

Green stormwater projects use plants, trees, and stone to capture and filter stormwater. The systems, currently serving neighborhoods across the city, are part of the Green City, Clean Waters program. Philadelphia launched the 25-year infrastructure effort in 2011 to improve the health of our waterways. Today, green systems keep billions of gallons of polluted runoff out of local rivers and creeks each year. Learn about Green City, Clean Waters.
