A message to the infrastructure design and construction community

Due to the financial impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Philadelphia Water Department is postponing many capital projects for the foreseeable future.

In the near term, we will only seek bids for projects associated with critical system upgrades and maintenance.

While we maintain our commitment to the integrity of our infrastructure, we must balance that commitment with our duty to ensure fiscal stability with sound financial management practices.

We will reevaluate our financial position and communicate new information as it becomes available in the coming months.
