What We've Been Up To
📖 This month, Racheal Parker, our NW Parenting Program Specialist, and Myra Ortiz-Gaona, our NW Early Learning Hub & NW Parenting Support Specialist, attended the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Oregon – Partners in Literacy Summit. It was an inspiring event where we connected with others from across the state who are just as invested in getting books into the hands of children. We also had the wonderful opportunity to reconnect with Oregon’s First Lady, who shared heartfelt words about the importance of early literacy in helping every child grow and thrive.
📚 Melina, our Coordinated Enrollment Specialist, has been busy helping families with Preschool Promise applications and placements. We’re excited to share that 181 of our 190 available preschool spots have been filled!
✏️ With help from Erin Rea, our Community Early Literacy Specialist, we’ve joined forces with PDX Reading Specialist and Nestucca 21st Century Learning Center to bring free after-school reading tutoring to up to 30 K–3 students. Interested in Early Literacy Resources? Check out our How to Raise a Reader page!
📰 With Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers becoming more visible in our region, we invite you to check out Child Care Resource & Referral's Weekly Wire to learn more about recent immigration impacts in early learning.
