Dear Friends,
You probably saw yesterday's action alert imploring you to submit testimony regarding HB 3991 - the tax transportation bill - but the link to submit testimony wasn't operating as predicted.
Here's what you need to know:
- The House Floor was scheduled to meet at 11am to First Read HB 3991 and then refer the bill to the Joint Special Committee on Transportation Funding.
- In order to First Read the bill, a quorum must be present with 40 of the 60 House members. The House Republican Caucus agreed to provide four members, and the Democratic Caucus provide the other 36 members - totaling 40.
- What happened? The Democratic Caucus did not have all their members present, so the House Floor session kept getting pushed off, and off, and off...finally adjourning at 8pm.
All this to say, HB 3991 has finally been referred to committee and the link is up and running to submit testimony.
What happens next:
- The Joint Special Committee on Transportation will have a public hearing and work session tomorrow, August 31st at noon.
- Upon passage from committee, the House Floor will meet at 4pm for a Second Reading of HB 3991.
- TBD the House Floor will meet on Labor Day for final passage.
What can you do???
Make your VOICE heard and submit your testimony for the record!
