Dear Friends,
Last week, I sent out an action alert calling upon you to submit your testimony online for the public hearing that was held on Monday, August 25th, in regards to the transportation package. Many of you sent in your testimony and by Tuesday afternoon, and there were over 2,300 written testimonies submitted for the record - the results speak for themself.
However, due to testimony being submitted on a Legislative Concept, (LC 2) instead of a bill, there was no option for those submitting testimony to label their remarks as opposed or in support. So, staff in the House Republican Office hand-sorted each piece of testimony to help gauge the public’s opinion: Of 2,202 submissions (93%) of the those were in opposition, only 125 (5%) of them were in support, and 40 (2%) were neutral. That speaks volume to the wishes of you and ALL Oregonians.

TODAY, August 29th, Special Session officially begins! This means LC 2 (Governor's transportation tax package) has been assigned as HB 3991. You can submit testimony that officially displays your OPPOSITION or SUPPORT for the proposed transportation package. It is important to once again, GET YOUR VOICE HEARD!
Please resubmit your testimony today!
***Due to the nature of Special Session there is a narrow window to submit testimony. By 1pm TODAY, the link to submit testimony should be up and running. Keep checking throughout the day to see if the link is available to submit testimony.***
Additional information will be sent out as it becomes available, but here is what we know as of this moment:
The Joint Committee meeting will allow two hours for a public hearing and one hour for a work session. ***That's it - THREE hours to increase taxes on Oregonians; retired Oregonians on a fixed incomes and those counting every penny they make just to get by.***
