Bad Bill Alert: Democrats Want to Tax Your Tires
Democrat lawmakers are pushing HB 3362, a bill that would impose a 4% sales tax on all new and refurbished motor vehicle tires—and it won’t even fund road repairs. Instead, it would funnel money into rail transit projects and a vague “tire pollution” program.
-
HB 3362 is sponsored by two Democrat lawmakers: Senator Chris Gorsek (D-Gresham) and Representative Ken Helm (D-Beaverton).
-
Two-thirds of the revenue brought in would go towards rail transit projects.
-
One-third of the revenue brought in would go towards an untested “tire pollution” program.
With tire prices already up 33% since 2020 thanks to inflation and supply chain disruptions, the last thing Oregonians need is another tax—especially one that does nothing to fix our crumbling roads and bridges.
The bill is scheduled for a public hearing in the Joint Committee on Transportation on Tuesday, March 4th, at 5 PM. We need your voice to help stop this Democrat-led tax hike!

Oregonians already pay the 10th highest gas tax in the nation, and now Democrats want to squeeze even more out of hardworking families before fixing the roads we all rely on. Let them know we’ve had enough of these bad policies!
