As we wrap up "Organizational Days" and prepare for the 2025 legislative session starting Tuesday, I want to reflect on the exciting steps we’ve taken toward the next 160 days of work.
This week has been all about preparation. New senators and representatives were sworn in, the Governor delivered her lackluster State of the State speech (you can see the Republican Response here), bills went live on the Oregon Legislative Information System (OLIS), and our team has been working hard to ensure we’re ready to dive into the issues that matter most to YOU. The session ahead will be full of tough decisions, but we’re focused on commonsense policies that prioritize the needs of families, small businesses, and communities across our state.
We invite you to join us as we push for meaningful reforms—making it easier to build homes, reducing homelessness, improving public safety, fixing our schools, holding government accountable, and more. Senate Republicans are here to work for YOU this session, and we’re ready to get started.
Yours truly,
Yesterday, Senate Republican Leader Daniel Bonham participated in a press conference to preview the 2025 legislative session. He outlined our Caucus’s priorities for the next 160 days, emphasizing the need for bold, common-sense solutions to Oregon’s toughest challenges - NOT more of the same status quo policies of the past.
From addressing housing affordability to improving public safety and holding state government accountable, Leader Bonham made it clear that Senate Republicans are ready to fight for the needs of everyday Oregonians. You can watch the full press conference here on YouTube.
As we begin the 2025 legislative session, we're taking a moment to recognize the changing faces around here. We’re thrilled to welcome five exceptional individuals to the Oregon Senate Republican Caucus:
Senator Mike McLane (R-Powell Butte) on Swearing In Day
Senator Diane Linthicum (R-Beatty) on Swearing In Day
Senator Todd Nash (R-Enterprise) on Swearing In Day
Senator Bruce Starr (R-Dundee) on Swearing In Day
Senator Noah Robinson (R-Cave Junction) on Swearing In Day
Our new members bring fresh perspectives, strong leadership, and a commitment to representing their constituents. Whether it’s tackling rising costs, ensuring government accountability, or advocating for policies that prioritize hardworking Oregonians, we’re confident they will serve their districts with distinction We look forward to continuing our work on behalf of Oregonians in 2025 and beyond.
At the same time, we say goodbye to several outstanding senators who have completed their service:
- Art Robinson
- Brian Boquist
- Tim Knopp
- Dennis Linthicum
- Bill Hansell
- Lynn Findley
Their dedication and hard work have left a lasting impact, not just on their districts but across Oregon. From championing commonsense policies to standing up for taxpayers, their legacies will be felt for years to come. Their contributions have shaped our state for the better, and we wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
As we get started with the session, we want to hear from you. Your experiences and concerns will guide the work we do here in Salem. It’s your voice that helps guide the work we do. Please reach out to our office, share your thoughts, and let us know what’s most important to you.
