USDA Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) regulations require that all Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) sponsors complete CACFP Annual Training each year (7 CFR 226.16(d)(2)). The Oregon Department of Education Child Nutrition Programs (ODE CNP) creates a set of mandatory trainings on civil rights and other relevant topics each year and assigns them to all CACFP sponsors. All mandatory trainings must be completed in order to meet all CACFP Renewal requirements.
This year, the CACFP Annual Training is comprised of three parts: Part I on Civil Rights was released on March 1, 2024 (see Civil Rights Annual Training for FY 2024 Memo), and online versions of Parts II and III are being released in this memo. Information on all three parts is included in this memo.
Trainings and completed quizzes will be required for the following responsible principals:
- Food Program Coordinator
- Non-School Food Authority (SFA) Financial Office Contacts.
The Food Program Coordinator and Financial Office Contact are listed on CNPweb in the Sponsor Information Sheet application. Sponsors are encouraged to check their Sponsor Information Sheet to ensure that all responsible principals listed on the application are up to date.

Additional CACFP financial management trainings for School Food Authorities are in development and more information on trainings will be sent out in future memos and newsletters.
Family Day Care Home Sponsors will receive CACFP Annual Training on May 13, 2024. A meeting link was previously sent to all Food Program Coordinators and Financial Office Contacts. Family Day Care Home Sponsors who have questions can reach out to their assigned Child Nutrition Specialist.
While Authorized Representatives and other responsible principals are not required to take these trainings, ODE CNP encourages all responsible principals to review all annual training videos to better understand CACFP requirements.
Sponsors must complete all CACFP Annual Training Requirements in order to complete Renewals for CACFP for Fiscal Year 2025. Those who fail to complete all training requirements may be determined to be Seriously Deficient.
If you have questions about CACFP Annual Training requirements, please reach out to your assigned Child Nutrition Specialist.
