On January 3, 2023, ODE CNP sent out a memo to all Oregon CACFP At-Risk Afterschool Meal Program Sponsors with a reminder of programmatic requirements. At-Risk Sponsors are encouraged to review the memo and ensure that all requirements are being met. Sponsors who are found to be in non-compliance may be issued findings and corrective actions that may result in the disallowance of meals.
If you have any questions about this memo, please contact your assigned Child Nutrition Specialist.
Last Fall Oregon CACFP Sponsors provided ODE CNP with feedback on topics, timing, and format for CACFP annual trainings. We have been diligently reviewing your comments and have created a simplified plan for training this year.
Due to Sponsor request, trainings will be available online as three recorded videos and ODE CNP will be providing a wider timeline for Sponsors to complete the training. We recognize that many Sponsors are short staffed this year and do not have the ability to attend in-person trainings. This training will be required for the Food Program Coordinator only, but will be recommended for all Authorized Representatives.
ODE CNP will also be at the Oregon School Nutrition Association's Conference on March 10, 2023 to provide School Food Authority (SFA)-specific trainings in-person. This in-person training can be taken in lieu of one online training for SFAs only.
More details will be coming soon in February 2023!
CACFP Sponsors can choose between receiving USDA Foods or cash-in-lieu for the FY 2023-2024. The fiscal year starts on July 1, 2023 and ends June 30, 2024.
For more information on USDA Foods, check out the memo: Choice of USDA Foods (commodities) or cash-in-lieu Fiscal Year (FY) 2023-2024
Sponsors who wish to elect USDA Foods for FY 2023-24 (July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024) must indicate on line 135 of the CNPweb Sponsor Information Sheet in FY 2023 by January 13, 2023. Sponsors should notify their assigned specialist to approve the change.
Sponsors who wish to continue with cash-in-lieu for CACFP do not need to take any action.
Sponsors who already chose USDA Foods and are planning for the upcoming fiscal year should review the USDA Foods Ordering Schedule for School Year 2023-2024 Memo for more information on order deadlines and available webinars.
